Stephen Bates
Founder and CEO
Stephen Bates graduated from Babson College with a Bachelor of Science in Sales and Marketing. He began his career in commercial lending and later worked in finance, sales, and operations in the interconnect industry. Stephen then founded Global Interconnect in 1995. His inspiration for starting the company came from his son, Charlie, who sadly and unexpectedly passed away from SUDEP in April of 2011.
Since founding Global Interconnect, he has held board positions with Crotched Mountain, in Greenfield, NH, and with Champ House, in Hyannis, MA. He now resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, with his wife, while his two children, Josh and Charlotte, who grew up in the Gii business, live in the nearby Jacksonville area.
In Stephen’s free-time, he enjoys playing tennis, golf, squash and swimming.
One of his most proud outcomes is being able to work with the Gii team to create a medical device manufacturing company that focuses on enhancing patient outcomes.
Chet Potter
Vice President, Engineering/R&D
Chet Potter graduated Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, specializing in Mechanical Engineering. He then joined Global Interconnect in 2013 as a Quality Engineer and now serves as the Vice President of Engineering and R&D. Chet oversees the development and implementation of all engineering processes and builds project teams and structures at Gii’s locations in the U.S. and China. He co-develops new technologies while managing the engineering budget. He also serves as a technical resource for the sales and marketing departments.
In Chet’s free-time, he enjoys playing hockey and golf, going camping and spending time with his dog.
One of his most proud professional outcomes is being part of an engineering and manufacturing team that receives outstanding feedback from leaders in the world’s top medical device companies.
Jacqueline Christensen
Director of Finance
Jacqueline Christensen studied Finance at Cape Cod Community College and Mount Ida College after graduating from Cape Cod Technical High School as a Medical Administrative/Nursing Assistant. She then went on to work in the financial and administrative industry, including owning and operating a family business and preparing personal income tax returns. Jacquie joined Global Interconnect in 2005 as the Accounting and Administrative Coordinator and now serves as the Director of Finance. Jacquie is responsible for overseeing financial operations, analysis, projections, consolidations, and monitoring key financial metrics across departments.
In Jacquie’s free-time, she enjoys reading, walking the Cape Cod Rail Trail and spending time at the beach.
One of her most proud outcomes is of her personal and professional development over the years.
Jonathan Goodwin
Director of Engineering
Jonathan Goodwin graduated Eastern Nazarene College with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics. He has over 35 years of engineering experience, having worked for various consumer electronic companies before joining Global Interconnect in 2012. He started as a Senior Design Engineer and now serves as the Director of Engineering. Jonathan oversees the development and design of electro-mechanical systems, connectors and cable assemblies, while promoting collaboration between Gii’s U.S. and China teams, resolving non-compliance issues through root cause analysis, and facilitating design solutions.
In Jonathan’s free-time, he enjoys playing drums, building cabinets and furniture, and repairing automatic watches.
One of his most proud personal outcomes is of his wife and three grown daughters.
Todd Squire
President
Todd Squire graduated Bucknell University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Todd then spent close to 10 years as a Management and Enterprise Systems Consultant for a variety of commercial and federal clients. Todd joined Global Interconnect in 2004 as a Senior Account Executive and now serves as the President. Todd interacts with all Gii departments, with both the U.S. and China teams, to ensure Gii is operating as a cohesive unit and executing short, mid, and long term initiatives.
Todd proudly serves on the Board of the Latham Centers and the Lower Cape Outreach Center as a way to give back to incredible organizations doing incredible work for their consultants.
In Todd’s free-time, he enjoys beach and water time with his family and attending live music events.
One of his most proud professional outcomes is being a part of a dedicated team and has helped influence the tremendous growth that Gii has had since joining.
Kyle Kruse
Vice President, Marketing
Kyle enjoys playing hockey and golf and spending quality time with his family and friends in his free time.
One of his most proud outcomes is his two daughters, Layla and Sienna.
Troy Mauk
Director of Global Procurement
Troy Mauk pursued a major in Business Administration at both Cloud Community College and Wichita State University. He then went on to work in electronic distribution and materials management before becoming a product manager for a cable and connector assembly manufacturing company. He later transitioned to medical device assembly manufacturing, where he worked as a buyer and planner for critical care ventilators. Troy joined Global Interconnect 2007 as a Purchasing Manager and now serves as the Director of Global Procurement. Troy manages and directs Gii’s entire domestic and international supply chains and provides guidance and oversight on international logistics.
In Troy’s free-time, he enjoys live performances, fine dining, cooking with friends and family, trying new cuisines, and traveling both domestically and internationally.
One of his most proud professional outcomes is during the COVID-19 pandemic, he managed the Gii supply chain, while maintaining contact with global customers and partners, and ensured the necessary tools to continue business with minimal production delays.
Michael Melkonian
Engineering Manager
Mike Melkonian graduated Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, with a Specialty in Mechanical Engineering. Mike then went on to work as a commercial HVAC engineer. Mike then joined Global Interconnect in 2014 as a Quality Engineer and now serves as the Director of Project Engineering. Mike ensures that Gii’s project teams are functioning within the project scope. When necessary, Mike helps realign that scope and project trajectory with the customer’s expectations in mind. He also enhances Gii’s project processes by introducing new software, form, and/or workflows.
In Mike’s free-time, he enjoys golfing, carpentry and cooking.
One of his most proud personal outcomes is marrying his wife.
Robert Gray
Chief Technology Officer
Bob Gray graduated UMASS Dartmouth with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and has completed some additional graduate level courses. Bob began his career as a Quality Assurance Engineer before joining Global Interconnect in 1999. Bob is Gii’s longest serving team member and started as an Engineering Manager and now serves as the Chief Technology Officer. Bob provides manufacturing, quality, design, and leadership for Gii’s engineering management initiatives.
In Bob’s free-time, he enjoys exploring, bicycling, gardening and music.
One of his most proud personal outcomes is of his children and their families.
Scott Burns
Vice President, Sales
Scott Burns graduated Mount Ida College with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management. Scott pursued a career in health club management before selling enterprise IT infrastructure. Scott joined Global Interconnect in 2019 as the Vice President of Product Solutions and now serves as the Vice President of Sales. Scott uses his experience to work with top tier Medical OEMs, to produce significant business outcomes through Gii’s core capabilities, while working with existing customers to expand our partnerships.
In Scott’s free-time, he enjoys spending time with his family and boating with his friends.
One of his most proud professional outcomes has been being fortunate enough to learn from great leaders at some of the most innovative companies and using those experiences to grow as a leader.
Cheryl Shaw
Director of Program Management
Cheryl Shaw graduated Delta State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. She then went on to hold roles in both sales and marketing in the gold and hair care industries. Cheryl joined Global Interconnect in 2008 as a Program Manager and now serves as the Director of Program Management. Cheryl’s responsibilities include managing inventory programs for top tier medical and industrial accounts, providing customer support, managing purchase orders, collaborating on engineering change orders, and managing customer inventory.
In Cheryl’s free-time, she enjoys watching sports, walking, and having dinner with friends.
One of her most proud professional outcomes is collaborating with procurement and quality to manage a supply chain for a major medical customer to continue the 6 consecutive years of 0 quality issues or late deliveries.
Sarah Nugent
Director of Quality
Sarah Nugent graduated Western New England College with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She then worked in the biologics and medical device industry, focusing on quality systems and product safety, having various roles in research and development, validation engineering, regulatory affairs, and contract manufacturing. Sarah joined Global Interconnect in 2017 as a Quality Manager and now serves as the Director of Quality. She oversees and drives quality initiatives, manages challenges in the heavily regulated medical device industry, while balancing customer requirements to ensure all quality standards are met.
Sarah enjoys traveling in her free-time.
One of her most proud personal outcomes is purchasing her home on Cape Cod and raising her four cats.
